Dr. Maketansky grew up in New Jersey. After graduating from Cornell University, he received his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, in 1979. Upon graduation he came to work at the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital for Dr. Donald Gay.
A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Frost earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After teaching mathematics in private schools for several years, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Johnson is a native New Englander who grew up on a farm in Western Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a BA in zoology and received his DVM degree from Cornell University in 1967.
Dr. Fiske graduated Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She has been working at Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital since 2009. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Fiske earned her BA from Wellesley College, as well as her BS and MS from the University of Massachusetts.
Idalia graduated from Becker College in 2002 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been a part of the Sturbridge Vet team since 2001. She has known that she wanted to work with animals since the age of five.
Glennis is a Massachusetts native, growing up in Brimfield. She attended Becker College, earning a degree in Veterinary Science. It was her life-long love of animals that led her to pursue this career. She has one dog, Lucy.
Beth earned her AS in Veterinary Technology from Becker College. She attributes this to her father, who, upon hearing that Beth wanted to do some kind of work with animals, hopped in the car with her and drove to Becker for an impromptu tour.
Heather attended Mount Ida College in Newton, MA, graduating with an AS in Veterinary Technology in 2009. Heather’s love for animals led her to become a veterinary technician. She believes that animals are great companions and even better listeners.
Missy is a native New Englander who grew up on a dairy farm in Southbridge, MA. She graduated from Harcum Junior College with degrees in Animal Center Management and Animal Health Technology. It is her upbringing on the farm that Missy credits with her initial love for animals and with leading her to a career as a Veterinary Technician
MarieLee graduated from Framingham State University in 2019 with a BS in Biology. She joined the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital as a veterinary technician in 2019; however, prior to this, she worked here as an intern. MarieLee is continuing her education, hoping to earn her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Her goal is to one day become a veterinarian. She has one dog, a Shih Tzu named Sophia.
Laura attended the State University of New York at Delhi, graduating in 2015 with an AS in Veterinary Technology. She started working for us as a veterinary technician upon graduating but has been a part of the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital team since 2014 when she began working as a ward nurse.
The daughter of Donald C. Gay, DVM, who established the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital in 1965, Karen has worked in the practice full time since 1977! She began as an assistant receptionist and now is the office manager.
Denise has been a part of the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital family since 2004. Working at a vet clinic is a great way for her love of animals to manifest itself into her job. When not working, Denise spends her time with her family and her German Shepherd Falcon.
Stephanie joined the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital team as a receptionist in 2019. She chose to become a receptionist at a veterinary hospital because she loves animals. She loves being able to interact with them throughout her workday.
Melissa has been working as a receptionist at Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital since 2019. She loves being able to work with animals, saying, “How can you have a bad day with puppies and kittens?!”
Julie became a receptionist for Stubridge Veterinary Hospital in 2019. She is obsessed with animals and loves speaking with people about their pets, so working at a veterinary clinic is a perfect fit. Julie has three dogs: Oliver (Pug), Holly (Boston Terrier), and Brick (Bugg).
Bess is the daughter of Dr. Mak. Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital has seemed like a part of the family for as long as she can remember, so she is thrilled to officially be a part of team. Bess graduated from Post University with a BS in Business Administration in 2014. She also received a Mini MBA Certificate in Social Media Marketing from Rutgers University in 2017.
Kristen joined the Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital team in 2019. She wanted to work at a veterinary hospital because she loves animals. Prior to working as a ward nurse, Kristen worked with horses and at a doggy day care. She has three cats, Ezra Raven, and Ember.
